WHAT IS AN UPS OR UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY?
UPS essentially stands for Uninterruptible Power Supply, the abbreviation is derived from the term Uninterruptible Power Supply. Computers and other electrical equipment need to be protected from power fluctuations, which can be quite damaging to the equipment. An unexpected power outage or low voltage surge, even if it lasts only a few seconds, can cause a major loss of, say, your data if you haven't backed up your workflow. In addition, power fluctuations can also cause serious damage to our hardware devices.
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) will make up for the power shortfall when a power failure occurs. Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) are widely used in critical infrastructure for business and home use (e.g. to support computers or data centres).
The cooling of UPSs is most often achieved by air handling fans or passive heat sinks. Batteries also need to be cooled to maintain their efficiency and prolong their lifetime.
TYPES OF UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLIES:
Off-line (or Standby) UPS: Power devices from batteries during power outages.
Line Interactive UPS: continuously monitors power quality and can switch to battery power even when voltage is low.
Online UPS: Online UPSs do not interrupt the power supply for a single moment and are therefore better than their off-line counterparts.
The choice depends on the importance of system continuity, the sensitivity of the device to power outages and low voltage, and the available budget.
We offer a wide range of uninterruptible power supplies, all of which are of excellent quality. Take a look at our products and choose the one that suits your needs!
